What an incredible week it has been for Irish restaurants. Three eateries, all in Cork, were awarded their first Michelin star, bringing to 16 the number of restaurants in Ireland with this prestigious accolade.

For Ahmet Dede from Mews in Baltimore, Takashi Miyazaki from Ichigo Ichie in Cork city, and Rob Krawczyk from Restaurant Chestnut in Ballydehob this is a huge recognition of their hard work and dedication.

A Michelin star is the most prominent accolade in the culinary industry, and what better way to promote your restaurant than to be able to present the words “Michelin star” to your audience. Take Gillian Nelis’ article in the Sunday Business Post where she spoke about Restaurant Chestnut: “In the six days since winning the Michelin Star, they have taken over 150 bookings for their 18-seater restaurant, with more coming in all the time.” It practically sells itself.

Of course, for us mere mortals who don’t have a Michelin star, there are other ways to self-promote… and do it well.
