17-year-old, award-winning Cork violinist, Mairéad Hickey, is to perform a special fund-raising concert at the Curtis Auditorium at the CIT Cork School of Music on the 31st of May 2013 at 7.30pm in aid of the CUH Charity’s Children’s Appeal to raise €1.5m to refurbish the outdated existing Children’s Unit.

Free events tackle safety issues facing senior citizens in Cork

Home Instead Senior Care Cork today announced the launch of a series of free ‘Senior Safety Information Events’ in Douglas, Midleton, Mayfield and Glanmire in May. With nearly 45,000 people over 65 in Cork and the number of Irish citizens aged over 75 set to double from 207,000 at present to 414,000 in the next 12 years, these inaugural events aim to ensure Cork’s aging population is not left vulnerable in their own homes.

CUH Charity launch raffle of €100,000 Matt Lamb painting

The Cork University Hospital (CUH) Charity today announced the raffle of a Matt Lamb painting worth €100,000 as part of the CUH Charity Art Exhibition in the Cardiac/Renal Wing of the hospital. The two day exhibition, which is open to the public, is being run by The Warren Gallery and will be on display from the 29th – 30th of April, with proceeds being donated to the CUH Charity’s Children’s Appeal.

Diamond Wishes Ball in aid of the Children’s Unit at Cork University Hospital

he Cork University Hospital (CUH) Charity will host their inaugural Diamond Wishes Black and Bling Ball on the 19th April at Rochestown Park Hotel, Cork in aid of their €1.5m appeal to refurbish the existing Children’s Unit at the CUH. New initiative is key to unlocking funds for Cork enterprise

Cork Foundation, a new not-for-profit funding organisation established by a group of leading business and public figures to help drive social and economic growth throughout the Cork region, will be launched this evening, 7th March 2013, at the Port of Cork, Custom House Street, Cork by Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Simon Coveney, TD and the Chairman of the Cork Foundation Strategic Board, Sean O’ Driscoll, Chairman and CEO, Glen Dimplex. Acting as a catalyst to economic and social development, the Cork Foundation is the first of its kind in Ireland. With an initial target to raise €5 million, the Foundation’s aim is to connect contributors from home and abroad directly to Cork businesses and community enterprises.

This is the first time the Children’s Unit has appealed to the public for funds. Once The Children’s Appeal has reached its fundraising goal, the CUH Children’s Unit will become a single centre of excellence for children in the Munster region.
