Most companies seek out positive media coverage. However, once achieved, often businesses don’t follow through and get the most out of those valuable column inches or minutes of airtime.

Client Manager at Springboard, Maria Tracey outlines her top four tips on how savvy businesses can leverage positive media publicity to ensure they maximise its success.

TIP #1: GET SHARING

Use your company’s social media platforms to amplify and share the good news. Take screengrabs or photographs of the article, or a link to the article online and share them on your business’s Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn, Instagram and other social platforms, if you have them. Tag the relevant media outlet and journalists where possible. Also ensure the individuals interviewed for the piece do the same on their own social platforms.

TIP #2: UPLOAD TO YOUR WEBSITE

Once the article is live, upload it to the ‘news’ section of your company’s website. This means it will be front and centre for potential new clients to see and will give you third party credibility. People want to do business with experts and thought leaders in the industry.

TIP #3: GET THE TEAM BEHIND IT

Positive news breeds positive energy. If your company secures good press coverage, make sure all employees know about it. Email a link of the article to all staff, so they feel included in the success of the company. They will then very likely share it themselves on their own social media accounts.

TIP #4: ADD TO YOUR NEWSLETTER

Adding positive media coverage in your company’s e-zine is an ideal way of ensuring that clients, and potential clients who have signed up to newsletters, will have the opportunity to read about the publicity. This will ensure that your company is positioned at the forefront of its sector.
