What is search engine optimisation SEO

Do you want to rank high in search engine results, increasing traffic to  your website? Here’s what you need to know about SEO.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is a skill you can learn that will help you to maximise your website content, so that search engines like Google, will rank it higher in their list of search results.

Why is SEO important?

SEO is important because we all know that when we type a search term or ‘keyword’ into Google, we usually only look at the top five results. It is very rare that somebody would click on page two of Google’s search results. If you rank in the top five search results, you have a huge advantage over your competitors, increasing traffic to your website.

What is SEO?

SEO is the art of making your website content easier to understand for the Search engine robots that analyse it. It helps search engines like Google to figure out what your page is telling its audience. They can then include it in search engine results, for the key topic you are writing about.

What about my website content?

Search engines crawl through sites using algorithms to find the most relevant and popular websites. They do this so that when someone types their search term into that search engine, they receive the most relevant and up-to-date information on that topic. In time, the increasing popularity of your page will encourage search engines to promote it even more. Search engines like Google, prefer to rank sites with lots of traffic and lots of activity, as these sites are clearly the more popular.

What part does SEO play in your digital marketing strategy?

SEO is vital if you want to be ranked well on Google for your service or product. A high ranking means significantly increased traffic as well as increased trust in the brand by your consumers. However, search engines also take into account other factors, such as time spent on the website by users. This is why the content you create is extremely important. It must keep them on the website for longer periods and encourage sharing, commenting and other reactions. At Springboard PR & Marketing, we know it is vital that you provide relevant content to your audiences as part of your digital marketing strategy.
