Tesco for schools and clubs scheme 2012

Tesco Community Champion, Liz Downes is asking people to pledge their Tesco for Schools and Clubs vouchers to local primary school, Ballygiblin National School for some much anticipated equipment for art, sports and music. Customers can collect for their chosen school or club or they can donate their unwanted vouchers to Ballygiblin National School in the Mitchelstown store.

The Tesco for Schools and Clubs voucher collection scheme is running from the 12th March to the 20th of May. Now in its 15th year, to date the scheme has given away over 430,000 pieces of equipment worth almost €17 million to Irish schools and clubs. Last year alone, over €727,000 worth of school equipment and sports kit was delivered to schools and clubs around the country.

“At Tesco we understand that in today’s climate schools and clubs are finding it harder to get funding for much needed equipment and sports kit. The Tesco for Schools and Clubs scheme is delighted to continue supporting local schools and clubs such as Ballygiblin National School.” said Liz Downes, Community Champion, Tesco Mitchelstown.

Liz’s role as Community Champion involves working directly with local organisation such as schools, clubs, charities and community groups on projects such asGreenSchools, Bag Packs, local fundraising events, local recycling events and WEEE days. She also facilitates community groups by giving them access to the store’s facilities such as the car-park and the foyer.

Customers will receive one Tesco for Schools and Clubs voucher for every €10 participating spend in stores during this period. For more information on Tesco for Schools & Clubs visit tesco.ie or follow us on Facebook at for weekly competitions and updates www.facebook.com/tescoireland
