A charity cycle to raise much needed funds for cancer services and essential medical equipment across all departments at Cork University Hospital (CUH) is to take place in October, CUH Charity has announced.

Funds raised from the cycle will go towards initiatives such as refurbishing a new step-down Recovery Room for patients after procedures and purchasing biopsy equipment for colon and lung cancer.

Internationally renowned triathlete, Cork man Bryan Keane, and leading Irish triathlete Trevor Woods launched the cycle and are delighted to be supporting the event. Bryan Keane was the first Irishman on a World Cup podium, winning silver in Japan in 2013, while Trevor Woods is one of Ireland’s leading triathletes for the past 20 years.

The Wheel4Life cycle, which will take place on October 25^th, will feature two routes through beautiful West Cork, both starting and finishing at Highfield RFC Club in Bishopstown. The 50km route will travel as far as Dripsey, while the longer 100km route will take in Macroom and Bandon as well.

The registration fee is €40, and additional sponsorship of €120 is welcome. Participants will receive a free cycle jersey, BBQ and hot showers courtesy of Highfield RFC. Bike rental is also available through Wheel4Life sponsor, The Edge Sports shops in Cork.
