Cork Airport has been shortlisted for the UK/Irish Airport of the Year award for the prestigious TTG Travel Awards 2018. Cork is one of five finalists in the running, with the winner to be announced on 17 September at the Lyceum Theatre in London.

On the announcement, Managing Director Niall MacCarthy said: “It is an honour to be shortlisted for the UK/Irish Airport of the Year award at the 2018 TTG Travel Awards.

“The entire team at Cork Airport continually strive for excellence in customer service, community relations, environmental awareness, and route development growth. To make it to the final five is recognition of the hard work and dedication of the whole team.”

Of the five finalists in this category, Cork Airport is the only Irish airport to be shortlisted. Other airports in the running include Birmingham, Bristol, East Midlands and Manchester.

More than 2.4 million passengers will travel through Cork Airport this year, which is Ireland’s fastest growing and best connected international airport after Dublin. Cork Airport has secured a number of new routes this year with Air France now flying daily from Cork to Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Aer Lingus flying year-round to Lisbon Portela Airport, commencing 26 October. Ryanair also extended its twice weekly service from Cork to Faro into the winter season.
